Further information

Prior to admission, everyone is assessed by the manager or their nominated deputy, to ensure we can meet personal, social and nursing needs. Trained nurses will holistically assess all clients on admission and an individual care plan will be formulated with the client and/or their family. This care plan will be based on historical, current and future needs and expectations, and will follow a process of continual review and evaluation.

An annual review in the form of a written report collated from the home's records, staff information, outside agencies e.g. GP, specialist nurses and input from the client, their family and/or friends will be arranged and undertaken.

24 hour professional nursing care is delivered by Registered General Nurses (RGN), Registered Mental Nurses (RMN) and trained Care Assistants. Medical care is provided by the clients GP of choice providing the GP is practicing within the area, therefore it may be necessary to change GP if being admitted from outside the area.

We have a number of communal rooms, including 3 lounges, a conservatory and 2 dining rooms. These rooms are for relaxing and for social activities.

Our bedrooms are single, and most are en-suite. These rooms are the private space of the person living in that room. Hillbro has 43 bedrooms in total, on both ground and first and second floors (accessible by a passenger lift).

Residents are encouraged to bring their own belongings and furnishings to personalise their room. Every room has a nurse call system. Private phone lines are available by arrangement. Outside, we have parking and a garden with seating in front of the home and a secure open-air patio within the home.

Residents are offered a menu with a choice of home cooked meals using seasonal fresh produce. We are able to cater for residents with special dietary needs. Drinks and home baked cakes and biscuits are always available. We welcome any suggestions people may have for the menu.

Memory box

Memory boxes are a proven way to comfort those suffering from dementia and making them is a regular activity at Hillbro.

Social and recreational activities are organised for those wishing to participate, family and friends are welcome to join in. Outings are arranged for those clients wishing to do so. Visits out with family and friends are encouraged and supported.

Activities include: knitting, crochet, sewing, reading material and other crafts. Weather permitting, these activities can also take place outside in our beautiful gardens or courtyard. We usually organise something to mark special occasions, for example, we recently celebrated VE Day and held a party in the grounds for residents and their family and friends.

Family and friends may visit whenever the resident wishes. They can visit residents in the lounge or in the privacy of their room. We have no set visitors' times and visitors are positively encouraged!
